Boat reports Fishing reports — 29 May 2009

Phew…..what a scorcher 8-) that wasn’t expected!! I’d packed a rain coat!!

Me, Bill and my lad Dom decided on a leisurely trip out on the look out for whatever came our way. We planned on launching well before low water, then pumping some fresh worm for the day ahead before going further afield….probably out in a channel somewhere ;)

After we’d managed pumping a few worm for the day, we gently cruised out of the shallows and were astonished at the amount of flatfish, clearly seen in the gin clear water, shooting off in all directions :o so we decided to drop the pin and have a flattie fest to start the session…
Dom was soon amongst the fish……

Where’s he gone? A double header…..

Followed by another……..

Plenty of dabs and plaice to everyone…even me….

Some bonny nicely marked fish, really vivid spots…..

I even managed a diddy Flounder for the Species Hunt………Paul!! ;D

After filling our boots with flats, we decided on a move, and soon bumped in our old friend Colin on ‘King Kaj’……

Boy was it hot……suncream, hats and sunglasses were the order of the day, luckily we keep cream on the boat 8-)

The tide was running hard as expected, so big baits were the order of the day, couple of these should do the trick……

Then it was just a waiting game, not as instantly gratifying as the constant rattles when flattie bashing, but a good learning curve…….

Dom’s patience was eventually rewarded with a belting fish…….

Another good rattle on the rod tip, he thought he’d got another……..

Unlucky son……keep on that learning curve!! ;D

All too soon it was time to head back and, seeing as it was the top of the tide, Dom was given the opportunity to take us home………

Back to the slip in double quick time……

Colin wasn’t far behind either, I think with similar results to us….

All in all, not a bad day…..even though we were all a bit burnt :-[ ;) ;D ;D :)
