doesn't really look the same as the picture but you can decide...........

Nice one Gazza
That'll catch fish for sure mate.
Only slight draw back to my mind is the hackle is a bit forward of the eye.
Try holding the hackle back before tying off the head or trim the hackle down past the eye.
Try tying six of the same fly, that way you get used to memorising the materials needed and you can check if each fly is better than the last....compare notes so to speak, plus you end up with six flies for one visit to the fly tying bench.
Grand fly though mate, welcome to the world of fly dressing

It will indeed Steve.some of us though are in search of perfection, the perfect fly
Now then, the perfect maggot...there's the quest.
Do you grab a maggot or pick a certain little soldier out

Depends on your objective I suppose? I tie them, not works of art, but make me very happy when I catch on them, or, if I've given one to a fellow angler and they catch, it feels even better...??

True words indeed Steve, there can be no greater pleasure than landing a fish on a home tied fly surely.
Except the greater pleasure of gifting said fly to a chum.
Have the need for perfection though mate.
If a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well kind of thing

Cheers, your talking Latin Russ,we didn't see the fly we were going to tie,the guy just did one in a few mins and we had to sort of copy it I guess....all this tie off and hackle this and that might make sense when I've tied a few mate......
They had a weighted fly tie device to sit on a table weighed about a bag of sugar rather than the normal
One you clamp to a table....I think it about £40 plus all the bits and bobs were about another £15 then your feathers on top....dunno if that was good value.
Anyway thanks for the opinion and advice all is welcome.
