Fishing the China Seas 2018
At 69 years old I thought it’s time to get a passport and travel by air first time flying for me and found it exciting, destination China a 14 hour trip might as well jump in at the deep end so to speake. Landed at Beijing airport spent 3 days there visiting the Forbidden Palace and the Great Wall, something I’ve always wanted to see and actually walk on.Next leg was to fly to a coastal city Dalian which lies West of the Yellow Sea, a beautiful modern city of just 6 million people and growing as I write this post. One of my students Dads is a millionaire with a cracking 40 ft flying machine, he kindly invited us for a fishing trip, up at 0500 that morning and set off with the sun just breaking.
After about an hour steaming we arrived at a deserted island an old abandoned military base , the sun was getting hotter by the minute, as soon as we arrived the skipper sounded his horn for us to drop our gear, using a two boom rig with live bait, small fish similar to a blenny. I was into a fish first a good size BlCk fish as I went to grab the fish the skipper waved furiously not to hold it as the spines are dangerously poisonous.
Then we were all into fish moving from mark to mark to keep a good rhythm going ended up with about 20 of these fish. By this time the temperature had risen to over 40 degrees all the crew were covered as they don’t like sunburn, me I was loving the sunny rays. After a while a small fishing boat came along side and started shouting that we were stealing his fish this was his area he had to pay a fee to catch fish so we moved to another mark. On returning to port my friends found the first roadside restaurant and asked if they would cook our catch for dinner, in no time at all we were tucking into a fish feast.

Hi mate not posted for years I’m giving Facebook a rest, it’s still a pain trying to load pictures on here though.

What does it matter now if men believe or no?
What is to come will come. And soon you too will stand aside,
To murmur in pity that my words were true
(Cassandra, in Agamemnon by Aeschylus)
To see the wizard one must look behind the curtain ....
