A winter cuckoo

Postby Degs » 31 Jan 2014, 13:36

With the crap weather we've been having screwing up any rock sessions on the island for the past few weeks jumped at the
chance with the calm spell last night,i was greeted with a nice flat sea if a bit cold and fished 4up 2 down.
Set up two rods, one for rays and another closer in for conger and had the dreaded decent fish first cast on the conger rod,
an 8lb huss,a quick pic and back she went as she was laying.
Image

Shortly after had a knock on the ray rod and brought in what i thought was a nice spotty until i landed it and realised i'd
a tidy little cuckoo ray, rarely seen so i was well chuffed with that.

A few whiting were getting caught which went in the bait bucket,a couple of dogs and small codling
with one better one amongst them
Image

Had a massive bite close in which i think was a decent pollock which didn't take the whole whiting down but
shortly after had a strap on the same bait.

Image

Not much else after that so back to the car, scrape the ice off and back home a happy Degs.:yeah:
