1st fishing day of 2013 report

One cast at Five Bar Gate. Bait flew off, 7oz lead swept back to the beach. A line festooned with grass and leaves from tip to tackle. Gave it up as a bad job thou the initial recce was useful. Retired to North Wall. A few already there for high water 9.2m. 3/0 pulley pennel. Black with squid. 7oz couldn't hold the bottom and leads coming round into rocks, just like trotting on a river.
A long winded way of saying, not a touch, not a sniff, not a knock.
Good casting practice though. I am starting to put my thumb behind the rod and it really helped me punch the lead on a lower trajectory.
Noone else seemed to be catching much a far as I could see
Lots of bait spare so will try golf club or jetty at high water tomorrow and Glasson in the morning to see if I can pull an ESOx.

Better today on the wall.
Two rods
less tide pull but more weed
3 dabs on flapper rigs with black.
Tomorrows tea!
Dad had a blank but enjoyed being out.
No pike caught at glasson but had one follow the plug to he edge before turning away. Nothing on a mack filet bait drifted across the basin.

Bought a Ron Thompson 7ft spinner rod for a tenner and had a big pike follow the lure but turned away when it saw me. Was a nice time whilst waiting for the tide as was out lunch at half moon cafe. Highly recommended
