Result on the Wyre

Postby sp8 » 19 Jan 2017, 18:48

After a pleasantly successful morning on the canal I decided to give the Wyre a chuck for the afternoon. Was rewarded with a fine pike on the same lure I caught on this morning. A silver Tormentor. No scales but I guess it would have made 15ld quite comfortably. 10 minutes later I had a follow from a bigger fish, it turned as it spotted me I think. Bugger! Shouldn't be greedy though. I think it's resident in this particular swim.ImageImageImage

Absolute stunning fish :thumb: well done
That looks like the bend in the river I fished a few times, for chub. I even won my first BLAS match there with trout.
Shame you never caught its pal. Though there is always next time.

Excellent result. Been good numbers of decent/big pike coming out of the Wyre this winter and there's still 2 months to go!

Excellent result mate and lovely fish on the lure. It also just shows that you don't need to you massive lures to attract the doubles as many nice Pike are caught on lures, both soft and hard ones.

I see you have now learnt how to post pictures now also, so more to come hopefully!

I had a go last February, snapped off twice on 2 branches under the water(using those little rubber shads I use on the canal, they would catch chub and trout as well as pike and Perch imo), I got in a mood with myself, packed up and went home  . It was just one of those bad days to be honest and I need to go and give it another go with a more clear head. I think I could have some great days on there once I crack it.

I've not been fishing for months to be honest(I feel as though it's been years) but I have a lovely new lure collection of Savage Gear and Rapala lures that I wouldn't mind trying out.

Was it the St Michaels stretch, where you get tickets from the garage where you fished?
