JULY 2022 - SPECIES HUNT UPDATE

JULY 2022 - SPECIES HUNT UPDATE

Postby TurboT » 01 Feb 2022, 12:21

July REPORT
Angling Addicts, North West Species Hunt sponsored by Gerry's of Morecambe.

July will possibly be remembered for two blistering days 0f +30 degrees, though overall, it's been below average on the sunshine front.

Another strange angling month. I'm assuming the Weather, Weed, Blanking and Summer Holidays feature in the reasons.

No major changes to the board for July with Sir Humphrey heading the way.
Well done to Rob finding a Shanny over in New Brighton

Mr Spikey has made a show for our hunters, but no Gurnards yet ?

Better hunting in August :fish: :fish: :fishing: :victory:

JUNE REPORT
Angling Addicts, North West Species Hunt sponsored by Gerry's of Morecambe.

Well done to Sir Humphrey, adding 2 to the tally and consolidating a respectable lead over 2nd place Shacky
Great effort by Rowley, skillfully wrangling 4 species this month.

The days are now getting shorter and the species list continues to grow, but some of the rarer species are keeping a low profile. Perhaps July will bring them out of hiding ?

Good hunting in July :victory:

Apologies for the late report, staycation and spot of fishing at Whitehaven

MAY REPORT
Angling Addicts, North West Species Hunt sponsored by Gerry's of Morecambe.

May has been a strange old month with varying degrees of success for our hunters. :fish: :fishing:
Well done Sir Humphrey, heading up the leader board and finding a personnel best 10lb 2oz smooth hound, from the Gynn Wall

Good hunting in June. :fishing:
Time to up those scores with a few elusive fish :fish: :victory:

APRIL 2022

The fishing is slowly improving and the species list is starting to diversify with increasing temperatures.
Well done to Sir H with 13 :fish: , heading up the leaderboard. Six new species this month, including a pollack, sole and bass :fishing: (we won’t mention the weever)

SHR April.jpg

Joe Roberts has been out on the Kent Estuary and found the first silver eel, whilst Ian Conway keeps the Mersey on the thornback map. :victory:
Shacky has pushed up his species up by 6 with the help of a trip to 'Cod City' and a silver lining. :fishing:
Well done Robf. Topping the locations fished, at 3, with species added at each. :secret:
Willpower and Rowley, keep at it and watch out for those gulley’s. :sos:
Frank, Bob, Billbob, Ray, Millsey, Jagbob & Marshy, now is the time to get out in the warm(ish) weather and 'go get em' :thumb:

For our readers :-
It’s not too late in the year and there is still the opportunity for any registered Angling Addicts to join the hunt. It’s free to enter , just PM me or reply to this post.

MARCH 2022

Warmer weather has been tempting both anglers and fish, out of hiding.
Well done to Sir Humphrey Retired, (Bryan), seeking out the Wyre’s Cod and Coaley haunts and heading up the leaderboard.

Nice one or two :fish: :fish: :fish: for Joe Roberts & Billbob, (Dave), getting their hunts underway during March.
For everyone else, there’s a summer in the offing, with new species poised to emerge……. :thumb:

FEBRUARY 2022

With almost as many storms as species this month, the opportunities to get out and bag a few have been curtailed. That said, it's great to see the species list is growing and with the arrival of spring let's hope the 'summer' fish got the message and start to show in the coming weeks. :fish:
Well done Bob1, finding an early plaice and heading up the leader board
And to the rest, not too far behind ...... :fishing: :fish: :thumb:

If you do catch a species that you consider to be out of the ordinary, do take clear in focus pictures, ensuring that any identifying markings unique to that particular species are clearly visible. Ie Barbules, spots, no spots etc.
If you cannot identify the species, take several photographs showing differing poses and aspects.
It’s all too late, when the fish has been returned back to the water.

There's still plenty of time for any registered Angling Addict's angler to join the hunt. Covid restrictions last year led to a late start in April, without any noticeable impact on the catches made.

:fish: :fishing: Good Luck :fishing: :fish:
