Gynn Wall 19th June

Postby Sir Humphrey Rtd » 20 Jun 2021, 14:22

Fished the late afternoon tide yesterday on the Gynn, with a small tide and south easterly wind wasn't expecting much but once again it decided to deliver a surprise.

Bait was black, ragworm and peeler.

Nothing happening for the first hour and half but then it decided to switch on, first up a decent Smoothound (85cm) at distance on peeler.

Then the rod fishing close in produced a double a small eel (on black) and a sole (on rag) at 28cm.

Not to be out done the rod at mid distance produced another sole on black.

Then the distance rod went again and another smoothound this time at 85cm again on peeler. Decided to weigh this one as conversion table siad the other was just over 4lb, this one tipped the scale at 4lb 12oz.

Then close in rod produced a full house, small sole and flounder and a better sole at 31cm, both sole on rag and the flounder on black.

Picked up a couple more sole, both on rag and then to round things off a little tope pup on rag close in.

So from not expecting much ended up with 5 species, 2 decent smoothounds, 6 sole, an eel, flounder and tope.
