Fuir le soliel

With too many sessions fishing from the car window on the Costa Grim, and the fish shying away from the frosty sand, I needed a new plan to catch "le poission insaisissable!" (the elusive fish)

It was a splendid evening on Cleveleys beach and with my Cedric Robinson head on, I mapped the shallow gulleys on the way to low water. The constant movement of the sand gives this beach a different complexion at every visit. Today it had just one ugly scar, with sticky mud in the first gulley and the second gulley flat and featureless.

The view at low water could be anywhere, but it is Cleveleys.

The ebb proved to be uneventful and baits vanished, but without a fishy result. At least it gave the opportunity to pump a handful of fresh black.

As the sun slipped away and the tide turned, it was all change, as the "run from the sun" began  (Fuir le soliel)

I'm suprized the whiting got a look in, the dogs came ashore with every cast. The pace got so frantic that I gave up wading to cast and lazily lobbed from the waters edge with my baits in less than a foot of water, Who cares, certainly not the fish. It's dark and the the dogs were on staycation. :dumb:

The final tally was around over 10 dogs and the solitary whiting. Quite a 'Fuir le soliel'. :thumb:
