Hi guys

I had sussed out a deep water rock mark after talking to the guy who owns the local chippie. After a run of 10 blanks I thought I had better put some effort in and try to catch a fish.

After a recce a week ago I have been waiting for the right conditions for a chance to give it a go, finally today was the day.

Fished 4 hours up to high and caught a conger about 2 ft long and as thick as my arm. Sorry no pic. as I had left my phone in the car.

It was a rough old spot and tackle loss was high, I need to make up some rotten bottom rigs before the next attempt.

Sorry forgot to say, bait was sandeel and squid wrap on a pulley rig with 3/0 hook.

Well done on catching, there will be no stopping you now. :cheer:

As for rotton bottoms, rather than losing lead weights you could make some concrete weights using an egg box as a mould, or as an alternative, I read somewhere that one or two do in the North East rough ground marks use potatoes (uncooked) especially if a long cast is not needed and you can take a few of different weights. Of course you may want to keep the spuds for chips to go with your fish.
