Perfect (first time) kayak fishing day - 1 min video clip

My first kayak trip in a remote small lake - Added a short video clip of the day down below :fish:

2 years ago I went to a very isolated small lake in the middle of nowhere after scouting it out on google earth.
I had just bought my first kayak and it was a plastic kayak. The name of the kayak is Intex Challenger K2. I have always been suspicious of plastic kayaks but I got to say...
I was very pleased with its performance and the whole adventure that day. :boat:
The non unflated kayak was easy to carry in a larger backpack through the forrets towards the lake and I was able to inflate the kayak in just 3 minutes. The plastic is thick and won't puncture from bumping into hooks. The kayak itself is not enough stable to stand in it and it gets easily dragged around when there is some wind...have to come up with a drift stopper of some kind.
But I was very suprised it worked that well. I always though that I would just puncture the kayak within 30 min and then swim to shore but it proved me wrong. Fits me better being able to carry it around in a backpack when I venture to mysterious lakes :)
Hopefully it will last for the upcoming summer!

Happy fishing for you all!

Thanks a lot! Shane, that does sound like a great idea, (falling out on purpose), in order to learn how to get back into the kayak. I will do that when the water gets a bit warmer... :D

It's an interesting approach in a fantastic location Philly :thumb: I'm a float tube user and have often wondered about the inflatable kayak option. Potentially a much easier way to travel distances on some of the larger lakes and lochs I fish. Tubes are really comfortable and surprisingly safe as your low centre of gravity makes it impossible to tip out/over. I've climbed up onto the backrest of my Sparton U boat and been unable to tip it over and I'm nearly 19 stone. The proximity you can get to fish is incredible - maybe they view me as a very fat duck? :D Fins mean you are free to use both hands at all times but the 'reverse cycling style' does get quite tiring over distance. I've also considered a SIB and the rigid kayak options. It would be nice to get all the various types together and have a good trial of them all

Thanks! Yes, I agree it would be fun to try out different ones. Hard to get a feel for it when you are on land and by just looking at them. Soon enough I will upgrade to a more robust kayak but this little piece of plastic is gonna have to hold me floating for a while, hopefully :D
