Here I am with it seems the whole Beara Peninsula to myself with a few cod and bass for company.
Frozen peeler is by far te best bait but also catching on black lug and to my surprise I had 3 fish on hardbacks, only put them out as an experiment but the cod were obliging so that could save a few bob on bait. Lost a bonus bass about 4-5 pounds when the hook pulled out as was trying to swing it in but did not really deserve it. Would have returned it anyway so nothing lost.

Nice tip that about the hardbacks, I suppose when the cod are feeding they'll take anything. I once gutted a cod and it had a hardback crab in its stomach still alive! It must have just eaten it prior to snaffling my bait.....lucky crab cos I let it go!

Tidy sesh mate I have used hard backs from the boat for smooth hounds, but never really had to cast it out very far,

shame about the bass ,still any fish is a good one ! any ray around ,i hear reports of ray down in yoghal feckers have all the cod and now the ray show up aswell

Easy mark to get to just 5 minutes walk/scramble from the car. Nice rocky platform casting out on to sand. Has a 1.5lb whiting there the other day along with a couple of 3lb cod. Waiting for the biggie which will surely come and putting out whole squid as bait but no takers yet. Rest of fish finding crab irresistable.
