headed out for a session to celebrate finishing up for the holidays set up at 3.55 one nice 40 cm bass slacklined me no more than 20 feet out ,inside the first breaker. as soon as darkness fell the whiting came on in numbers with treble and doubles every cast put out a few cod baits at distance but even 4/0 pennels where producing double whiting ,left at 7.30 as their are anly so many whiting you can catch before you get fed up :?

if the conditions are right you can get bass all year round but not in numbers,we all have our little spots that produce and its hard not to give em a bash if they look fishey ;) my best winter bass was an 8lber on jan 4 two years ago down in wexford a few miles away from bass alley where henry gilbey and graham hill go for a handy bass  about an hour and a half from where i live on the wicklow dublin border.however if you want proper year round bassing kerry/ dingle would be the place to target its warmer down that way with the gulf stream keeping the chill at bay.
