Not as yet, no. I'm off this week, I'll ring on Monday and see when the next meeting is and hopefully get an invite.

If I remember rightly, the meetings are going to be held every 3 months, the next being sometime around April/May.

It was mentioned that representatives from the local tackle shops and commercial fisherman should be invited, but it was all arranged at the last minute, so only a few groups were notified.

I think the council are still looking for input as to what the grant should be used for and how it would improve the facilities for promenade and beach users.

i think you should do an online petition mate or something like that to show how many anglers it affects in and around the bay get signatures when you go fishing of other lads, lets restore Morecambe fishing venues lol.

baitdiggers idea of fishing pods is a good idea.use the rock armour make it more appealing for anglers the general public and bird watchers alike .i agree with mike try and get a few signatures from anglers.

So many areas are lost to fishing coz anglers aren't included in 'consultation processes', go for it Rushy. Though i've only fished morecambe once in the last ten years, I did fish more often when I worked in the town. I fully support everything you have said and are attempting to do in representing anglers who fish the morecambe bay area.

I remember sandy lands been a quality spot for fishing, before the rock groins and that silly pier that they made, it's good for those who have basements like me on there, because it defiantly stops the sea, how ever it's ruined fishing on there I use to fish down on the beach out from the crab pong had some nice plaice and little bass from there just as the started to do the pier and throw the rocks down a few years back, worse thing they have ever done :roll:

Some cracking posts in this thread. I especially like the one about the "pods".

There's no way they would go for the "shingle" idea as the rock armour needs all the gaps in it to work properly. The idea is that the gaps dissipate the wave action preventing further erosion of the shoreline. Filling the gaps would cause rough seas to move the rocks and reduce the effectiveness of the structure.

I suppose you know what you're talking about Andy....seeing as you build the bloody things!!

they have used shingle on the rock armour further down at the town hall area, though it's not as exposed so probably not as critical
