Day 1 - Port St mary, Isle of man 02/08/2010
Tired now....
Traveled over last night to see my parents (go fishing!!) in the Isle of Man, getting picked up from Douglas harbour by six, back to my Mums, sausage and bacon butties, gear in the car..... i was fishing by 8:30am
The only sacrifice was that i had literally had 3 hours sleep
Id decided that a trip over to a favourite spot of mine was in order for the first day, as i approached i had a slight change of plan and decided to explore a little whilst i waited for the flood to begin.
This place usually fishes better once this island is under water...
Some of the views up here are quite spectacular
The sheep looked a little concerned as i approached
I got around the corner to find this.... anyone got any rope??? Think i better go back!!
Eventually i found a ledge to fish from, only a few hundred yards from my usual spot, but a slight change all the same.
There was quite a bit of boat activity today with the Mannin Angling festival in full swing
Fishing was a little slow at first but a few wrasse kept me busy
Then odd Pollack started to show once the tide got moving
A couple of better wrasse fell to float fishing tactics...
Fish the fish playing ball I got chance to try out some new lures i had... some were better than others...
Well into the flood its always worth a chuck with shrimp rigs for an odd mackie....
Heres a few in my live bait well
I was going to slag off Redgill evolutions for simply being far too light (17g) I'm sure for shallow water they will work well, but for deepish water Pollacking you might as well get the originals as you need to add some weight to get down to the fish....
If you can get down to the fish, they do catch As this was the biggest Pollack of the day i can't really slag them off too much....
Now.... where to go tomorrow

Make a difference - take home one piece of someone's angling litter next time you are out fishing

No didn't bring the Yak Main problem is that to bring a car over costs so bloody much!!! Cost me about £40 to come over as a foot passenger, but to bring a car varies, the least I've seen it is about £120..... but it cost us £300 when me and Richard came over for that week the other year.
don't think they would be too happy with me bringing a 13ft kayak as hand luggage
Ill do a separate post for lure reviews

Nice report Paul, was at a similar looking venue in the North East last week but had considerably less success (ie. 3 fat blanks ).

don't think its much different from Liverpool mate, around £40 return for a foot passenger.
