Morecambe Bay VHF Channels

Fairly new to boat fishing. Have got a new SIB boat (inflatable) and a handheld VHF radio. Have downloaded a portable ship license from OFccom so should be good to go. As its a new radio I would like to do a radio check at the first time out at sea.
What VHF channels do boat owners in Morecambe-barrow area use? Obviously CH16 should be for emergencies and the nearest CH65 coastwatch station is in fleetwood. Not sure a handheld VHF will reach such distance.
