Hi guys, been looking for a bit now for a new boat and have it down to between two. First is a Westport Marine Pilot 6, was out in a Pilot 4 at the Scottish boat show and really liked the way it handled. Second is the Predator165 Sea Angler, not had the chance yet to get out in one and only seen the one up close, looks smaller than the Pilot 6 but both are about the same length. Can anyone who may own or has been out in them give me their opioning on them.
Also I am thinking of a Suzuki DF70ATL 70hp four-stroke outboard motor again anyone with views on them.
Am hoping for loads of :fishing: :fishing: :fishing: trips this year.

Hi there....

can't really comment on the Pilot I'm afraid, other than they look smart....

Predator 165 a mate used to have one from new... Not bad boats at all. The pilot looks a far bigger boat though, at 5.20m its only 20cm but it looks beamier too, i may be wrong.

It was a toss up between warrior and predator for me, but deep down i wanted a warrior. I didn't even make it over to the predator factory in the end due to getting a deal on the Show boat for Southhampton BS in 2014.

I have the suzuki DF70 - Only done about 25 hours on it but so far so good. Sips juice, and really quiet. Will push my 165 to around 34.... Will be similar with the predator, but a bit slower with the pilot (28-30 according to their website)

Heres mine with the DF70 on it

You are right Paul the Pilot is a very beamy boat, standing next to it on a trailer it looks massive and sure would have room for 4 to fish, the Predator does not look as tall or large and is a bit tighter squeeze for 4 but still looks as if it manage it. Sure like the way the predator is more or less unsinkable.

My mate Clive-o has a predator with the suzi 70hp on it. Great balanced set up. So quiet on tick over that you wonder if it's still running. Tops 36 on the gps. Good for 3 but 4 would be cramped imo

Just to throw a spanner in the works....

I assume you know of the Warrior 170 and 175 which would probably be more comparable to the Pilot6 id have thought size wise, but also, Warrior have bought the moulds for the raider 18 and they have started building them....

Awesome looking boats, but without some of the build issues they have suffered previously under different builders.

Heres one of the first out of the moulds at Southhampton last september

Ordered the Pilot 6 with an Honda 60HP Engine, also an Honda 5HP and a Hallmark Trailer.
Humminbird Helix 7 SI GPS and a Standard Horizon CompaCT Fixed DSC.

As I've not had a boat before I am getting it fully rigged out with everything needed from ropes, anchor, flares, fenders and fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. Loads of other stuff as you'ld expect from life vests to flush mount rod holders.

Be about 6 -8 weeks till I get her, can't wait to get her out in the water and fishing.
