Hi all,

I launch my boat from Knott End and have currently been trying to catch some decent bass and mackeral. I have tried several areas such as the king scar buoy and shell wharf area but so far have had no luck. I have been using a variety of feathers particularly hokkais which have been successful for me when i went out fishing down in devon.

Does anyone know any decent spots and tips for catching some decent bass and mackeral in this area.

Preferably spots easy to get to from Knott End.

Thanks

Yep launched as planned after having a good scout round that area managed to find some nice tope :)

Regarding the bass were new to fishing for them afloat so were trying to find out what the best method is such as using live baits or lures. Were also struggling to find the mackeral round morecambe. Is this common for the bay? as in previous areas its usually a piece of cake.

Will be happy to find some bass spots for ourselves then :)

Thanks

P.S hopefully planning another trip in a weeks time

You'll catch plenty of Mackerel off Walney Island off Barrow, there's loads off there probably because the water's a bit clearer ??? I know it's probably too far for you to sail but you could trailer your boat over to Walney and launch at Jubilee slipway (free) then go down the channel and bag up

Might be a bit of a trek from knot end but north pier does fell for mackys. I even manage a bass while feathering for them on Friday.

Just trolling through old threads and found the above post from Rushy regarding Walney Slipway.

Does anyone know what states of tide this slip is accessible to launch/land? I've got an inflatable SIB and outboard id like to use out in the bay this summer and I'm scouting for some easy to launch and land places.

Could we land here even at low tide?

Thanks
Ben

If you want to use your rib plenty of slips to use from Morecambe and plenty of fish around the Jetty or further up the Bay towards Happy Mount Park, regarding launching at Whallney its only 40/50 min steam from Knott End to Piel Island for Mackeral but there hit and miss, I’ve a couple of boats on the beach would be happy to show you where to go .
