tried lure fishing for pike today my first time ever took some shads and a few silver spinners hoping to catch on my first attempt but i blanked all i could get was weed still it was a good day took my 4yr old daughter with me and a small rod for her to fish with maggotts but all she did was play with the maggotts and feed them to the ducks but a crackin day doing something different will give it a go in the winter when there's less weed about

Good try Gaz but keep at it mate, if your catching weed reel in abit faster Theres plenty of fish in there but don't just fish the one spot, you have to move around the basin trying from different angles

cheers mate will keep trying it's all new to me.... if anything it will improve my spinning

It will Gaz,try first thing in a morning or just before the sun goes down unless it's an overcast day, I find it harder in bright sunlight

Unlucky Gaz but like Tez says, keep at it mate and vary the speed of your retrieve whilst moving round the basin trying different spots. The pike could be laying up anywhere waiting to ambush their prey

cheers lads thanks for the advice probably give it a go early next weekend can always fish the estuary for flatties if i get no pike

Pop a dead roach up,its full of pike.not huge ones though.

where abouts in glasson dock is this i really fancy a pike fishing trip never done it before

you can catch pike all over the basin at glasson dock! its even good throwing a few lures out down the canal stretch up to, and even in the locks! i prefer going up with the dead baits up there, pre-baiting and fishing down the walls or under the boats.. my biggest pike out of there is a little under 20lb, but I've seen them to 27lb.. not fished it for a while but I'm back on the 9th if you fancy a sesh up there??

longlines have been discovered there the polish having emptied lots of stretches of the canal will soon ruin the dock
