Twin turbos (slacklined by a dab)
Sorry it’s late but blummin life keeps getting in the way at the moment. It’s been a while since myself n Dave have managed a session but we were both free on the 10th so we set a date. I really wanted to hit Wales but the weather was truly against that plan. We couldn’t get any crab for a hound hunt so we opted for Easington as rather than Skegness. It was an early start, I pulled up outside Daves’ halfway house at around 0400hrs n we hit the beach about 2hrs later. We were greeted with cracking weather even for 0600hrs. I stayed in my shorts n vest all day even onion boy was down to 1 layer. Anyway back to the story. Neither of us could be arsed to walked so we set up at the bottom of the slope. It didn’t look good with lots of red weed in the shore line. We set up and decided if the weed was too bad we would head to Tunstal. As it happened the weed was quite manageable. It was a slow start really. Dave with his 13 hook size 12 hook flapper n I was gunna tough it out for a ray with mackerel & squid wraps. We were chatting away n I was reminiscing about how Dave always manages to winkle out a turbot when the fishing is tough. Our 30mins soak was up n lo and behold the turbot queen managed to pull in a postage stamp sized turbot
Blank avoided for Dave.
I cannot remember if I had the next fish in the form of a dab or flounder either way it bloody slack lined me n there was weed on I actually was fooled into thinking it was a ray lol. After much piss taking the culprit was sent on its way. So now I’d avoided the blank. I then had a bit on the ray rod and a first for me I also winkled out a nice Turbot (a 1st and a PB of 11oz)
As High water approached the weed disappeared n I landed the 1st of 2 hounds for the day, nowt big but a welcome catch all the same.
Dave couldn’t buy a hound no matter what we tried I managed another one just before the weed came back with a vengeance at about 1200hrs. Dave had more than this but I’ve really had a bad week n can’t remember what n for the 1st time ever I even forgot to make a diary entry.
Anyway we called it a day at 1200hrs n were both back home for 1500hrs. It was a slow day but an enjoyable one as always.
The luck sock shot lol.
Bait used frozen softies fresh mackerel, fresh blacks, & squid
Rigs Pully droppers, fixed pats and of course Daves 23hook size 10 flappers
Cheers
