Whats the idea behind the teaser/hookless popper??

On the video was the first hit on the popper then the second on the jelly behind it?? Why not just use hooks on your popper and hook it first time round??

I'm not knocking the concept as it obviously works, just trying understand what you gain from doing it ??? ???
