Not my specialist field but I believe that 'inshore' is defined as within 12 nautical miles of the mean low water mark? As for the discard / quota situations it's yet more political madness :banghead: I read recently that cod in the North Sea are back on the endangered list only a few years after they had allegedly recovered, so presumably this mad system has failed to properly protect their sustained future again?
It's beyond time that we stopped raping the environment - forget the 'tradition' and relatively low levels of employment, our seas need to be left fallow for a minimum of 5 years in the opinion of many who know better than me. We are leaving a legacy of utter despair to following generations!

It's been here at least since the 28th September it has a sister ship along with it Annie Hillina also a factory trawler, MPs have been informed and I have been told it has been boarded by fisheries inspectors. As all ready stated it is staying well outside the 12 mile limit, so there is sod all we can do about it. I do believe this is no accident why they are here, it is either a test case to see our reactions as it is joint own by Dutch and German company or they will use it after Brexit and could be the end of smaller trawlers in the future.
The Margiris is the second largest factory trawler in the world and was banned from Australian waters so why can't we.....don't hold your breath on that one.
I monitor is most days using this -

What does it matter now if men believe or no?
What is to come will come. And soon you too will stand aside,
To murmur in pity that my words were true
(Cassandra, in Agamemnon by Aeschylus)
To see the wizard one must look behind the curtain ....

You have hit the nail on the head perfectly--Boris hasn't negotiated BREXIT as we will still be tied to the same old rules and regulations--HEATH---MAJOR--are the culprits in this issue from way back and these 2 sold us down the river--fishing policy will not change under Boris's treaty--these massive hoovers will still be killing our species and our hobby and in the case of our fishing industry their living also. FARAGE needs all the help he can get and 60 per cent of the mp's in Westminster need 12 months on the dole--------- that will change their views these are all career politicians and are all there for their piece of the pie ( plus expenses --of course) ---there is only one solution to this and that is a complete break from this monster organisation and don't pay the 39 billion --use it for inshore-heavily armed ships to sort out these invaders of BRITISH waters.--starting to twitch now-so I'd better get some more medication as the first lot is starting to wear off---all the political best--B1.
