Some Coniston Water pike
Due to very mild weather at the start of the pike fishing season, I didn't cast a deadbait until the back end of November, it was on my second or third trip to Coniston water that I had my best result, a jack of about 5lb then a wonderfully conditioned 17lber
Since then I've blanked more often than not fishing on Coniston, Windermere, Rydal and Grasmere with only one or two jacks to show for all my efforts.
Decided to do an overnighter last weekend with my lile fella and girlfriend in tow.
Four rods being the order of the day, different baits at different depths increased my odds of catching
I was quite happy to get a run relatively early on in the session with this nice 13lber
I had nothing in the dark hours except a handful of bleeps from those pesky snigs, had a recast in the morning and a mackerel tail on a sunk float paternoster got taken quite quickly resulting in another double of 11b,
Quite happy with that result.I'll be back there soon, hopefully I'll get stuck into one of the big girls.

To enjoy anything worthwhile, there must be some difficulty in obtaining it.

Well done Grinshill. I've not yet been piking this winter . I've only boat fished for pike at Coniston a hand full of times. Now the boat is awaiting repairs all winter I've yet managed to fish on her resentley.
