I don't fish Fylde coast much if ever these days, as am out of district, but when I was a young un I was down q a bit, and I used to love watching the shrimp push netters @ LW disgorge their catch - invariably loads of little sole as bycatch although nobody ever caught them...but were they ever targetted?

Years ago my brother and uncle used to shrimp commercially off Blackpool with first wagons and then tractors, as well as many small flatfish (plaice, sole, flounder, dabs, turbot and brill) they also used to catch a good number of in-size sole and plaice as well as the odd decent turbot. The deepest net was in about six feet of water, while the shallowest was 2 to 3 foot of water. As you say never fished for them myself or seen anyone else try for them.
