Meet up with Danny And Charlie, and 2 new angling addicts, Ian and his lad. Got there at 8.00am High water 11. 15am. Setup 2 hook clip down rig size 1/0 circle hooks baited with squid and mackeral, River was pulling like train, so distance casts were out of the question, so it was a gentle 40yard lob, still pulling but not as bad. Nothing for the 1st hour, then 2 knocks and a slack liner, struck but not much resistance but could feel the fish, thought pin ting, 1st fish for the hunt, wrong little codlet ( fat little bugger.)High tide came and went odd little codling caught, I was getting plenty of bites but hit them could I hell, tried everything, sat on my hands waiting for bites to develop no, no chance, smaller hooks no, out of frustration put a 2/0 circle hook on with a big squid head on, rod bounced twice slack line, fish on, thought a bit decent, but no, 12 inch codling hooked in the tail, bummer. Between 3 of us we had we 14 codling and 1 whiting, nice to see so many small codling. The only time I needed a whiting I couldn't get one. Both Danny and Charlie blanked put it down to his new rod and reel.
Scores Ron 7 codling, Jamie 3 codling 1 whiting and Ian 3 codling. Tight lines.
