Scarborough today

Postby billbob » 09 Jul 2018, 17:41

Took Mrs Billbob away for her birthday and had a weekend in North Yorkshire staying overnight in Scarborough.
As ever my trusty Traverse X feeder rod was on board together with a bit of tackle. Had a walk along the seafront last night (reccy), and saw a few mackerel being caught from the rocks and concrete blocks which protect the jetty.
Just managed an hour there this morning for 12 good sized mackerel all well over a foot long and in size. Didn't manage any pics due to my phone charge running out. For all the mackerel starved readers its not a bad option but try for a midweek visit is my advice.

I’d say on average the North Sea mackerel seem to be on average a bigger size than in the Irish Sea, as when in Eyemouth last August caught loads in the boat and all well over a pound and some bigger. The tuna days may yet come back ! :thumb:
