One eyed Esox

Only just into double figures but a welcome pike from the River Wyre on my St Michaels ticket. Only one eye but it found a ledgered sardine.
Poor quality photo due to low light conditions, flash not working and cameraman with the shakes I think.Image

That's the first pike I've had from the River this season. It's been a struggle. One very large fish followed a lure right to my feet but didn't take, and had a good fish on for a few seconds before it shook the hooks. Usually I'm lure fishing to cover more water but going to try baitfishing mainly until the end of the season. A couple of other swims in mind.
