North Pier...Saturday, 9th December, 2017
With a 3.15pm high tide coinciding with the sun going down, and my "gate-pass" warning me of an unspecified period of suffering if I wasn't home by dark, my afternoon session began at 12.30pm...amid a short shower of hail-stones. Even so, Saturday wasn't a bad day weather-wise and with all the pier to fish from I was able to settle into my usual spot, sheltered from the cold wind by the glass walls of the sun lounge.
I didn't have long to wait for my first fish, a 30cm whiting on frozen black tipped with squid. However, mackerel strips accounted for the rest of my catch, six more undersize whiting and one decent sized dogfish which were well spread out during the three hour session.
Home time came far too soon and I could hardly ignore my "alarm clock"...the fading light and the switching on of the Tower headland illuminations.
Sometime soon I'll learn how to turn pics so you won't have to crank your neck to see them

Nice one Dave super pictures and in the right orientation, no problem there Those poop shooter starlings have roosted under the pier for decades. Brolly up to avoid droppings. Good fishing mate, Well Done
