Now then...I was told it was an Ide..??
If general opinion says it's not then I shall withdraw my claim.
Any thoughts

Re: No 7 for Russ
Sorry Russ, I have to agree with Sharpey on this one
Roach...
Ide...
Get yourself off to to Whitmore Fisheries, Nr Kirkham and get your species list expanded.....remember this post...?
A few of us had an invite to fish Whitmore Do-Nut. Which, with me having a week off work, i was glad to attend. Actualy, i was looking forward to this match all week. I had time to tie some new rigs and sort all my tackle out, it hadn't been used for a year
The six of us who were known as the "Noddy's included me, Kammy Chris, Carol, JP & John the owner of Blackpool Angling Centre. It was the Noddy's versus the BLAS Freshwater Match Anglers. Though we had decided to have a species hunt.
I thought i had got to whitmore early. So, i could grab a bacon butty....WRONG !. It was packed The service was rapid and i was soon sat at a table with JP & Kammy. With breakfast down the hatch, i got a couple of pictures of our water for the day...
A nice looking water, with plenty of features to fish against...
Then back for a chit-chat and the draw. The noddy's mingled in quite well...
I drew permanent peg 19. Which to be truthful meant nothing to me. I had never fished the water before. Dave had drawn 18 next to me...
JP had drawn the corner peg. With John a couple further on...
Carol was next to the tree. Well, her tackles there anyway
And Colin was hoggin' the corner...
Chris was hiding behind the island
I decided on three forms of attack. First a feeder set up to get near the island, Second an inside rig on two sections of pole and finaly, fish the top of the ledge, which was three sections out. It seemed to take forever for the match to start. When it did, i was soon out on the ledge with double caster on the hook. Feeding caster little and often. it wasn't long before i had my first species hooked and netted...
My second came soon after...
Then a Perch on caster
I was doing ok. I had three species within 15 minutes. Then i hooked something bigger, it decided to test my elastic. But there was no competition between the leviathan and my Beastmaster and i soon had the species i wanted in my landing net...
Species number five decided to make an appearance...
By now my catch rate was steady but i had to wait for bites and decided to photograph better fish or a new species.
It was soon back to laccy stretching and Barbus Barbus No2 was in the net...
Then i had a better Abramis brama...
The place wasn't fishing its socks off, though i seemed to be doing ok and holding my own at the top ledge...
I was in two minds if to fish the inside line with paste as i had been feeding this area through the match. I decided against it and stuck to where i was...
I'm glad i did, because the barbel had the hots for my caster...
My laccy was having the time of its life...
Species number 6 then came to the net...
Followed by its twin...
Time was now getting on and wanted Mr Carp to make it seven. My float shot under and had a healthy bend in my pole. Could this be Cyprinus carpio ? .........Not a chance, these guys wanted my bait...
Last Chance ! Nope, but my biggest specimen...
With an hour to go, the wind dropped, sun came out & fish didn't want to know.........Except for the Carp. Kammy had a bit of a nightmare. His back was playing up and looked like he was sat on an ants nest He stuck it out with the feeder and bagged himself three carp in the last forty minutes
The end came and we waited for the scales. I had done well.
Noddys Result
Shacky...34lb
Carol......33lb 8oz...Who used an assortment of bait, coated with Womens hormones ! 8)
Chris......20+lb. I think
JP..........12+lb
John.......12+lb
Dave.......8lb
Me and Carol had taken the first two places in the match and were presented with a tackle voucher each for John's shop 8) Thanks to Colin for putting up with us. Maybe we can do it again some day
P.S. Sea Anglers Rule !!!!
and this..Whitmore Match Canal..
This was a new water for me to fish today. Somehow, i managed to get lost trying to find the place.
I decided to get a bacon butty, till' i saw mark's burnt offering. So settling for a bag of crisps was a better option.
With my fee's paid, i drew reg 7, which looked good i could reach the far side with 10 meters. But i would start down the track feeding the inside line...
On my left on the inside was a outfall pipe and overhanging vegitation, Interesting...
The right looked featureless...
I started off down the middle and was into fish straight away. Bream and Carp were coming to the net. Then i hooked a large carp which motored through my swim and destroyed it
Trevor was on the flyer peg 9 and was doing OK...
By now i was fishing the inside and catching small bream, roach, rudd, gudgeon and crucian carp...
The inside produced for most of the match, mainly small fish and a few carp that made light work of my 2lb hooklength
A surprise long tailed goldfish made a guest appearance, with a smattering of orfe...
Golden orfe were next, i was still getting smashed by the carp...
I placed a single caster tight in on the bank and my 8's elastic shot out, a nice carp was on, but would my 2lb line hold out. After a good 20 minute battle and plenty of 'laccy' stretching a 6lb'er was in the net.
My total for the day was 14lb. A pleasant days fishing, i enjoyed for once...
Well done to Humpaluma, who gave us all a lesson again
