New season new gear

Postby abbo » 30 Mar 2018, 14:27

I'm 56 now. I need good quality clothing to keep warm and dry. I need boots and studs that won't let me down.

I've invested in some tried and trusted lure wading gear. A Simms guide Jacket, a pair of zipped Vision Ikon waders and a pair of Orvis Boa pivot boots.

The boots are great for me so easy to get off and on with aircraft grade stainless steel laces. Just turn the dial to tighten the laces and lift the dial and pull the tongue to open - simples.

The waders are zipped - so you don't need to take your jacket and braces off if you want a pee - simples

The Simms jacket is warm and snug around the neck where I normally feel the cold. It is short in length which is ideal for wading in deep waters.

The studs are the Orvis tungsten ones - these studs don't come out and don't wear down. 25 quid but, well worth it.

Glasgow angling and Orvis have some great deals on at the moment. I purchased my waders from Diver Daves - he ensures they don't leak - a lot of new waders do as they are not individually tested only Bx tested.

I've been looking at tent for overnight sessions. Ohhhh I love this one but, not cheap at 570 quid

But, this one might be more suitable being lighter and smaller

New lures including, Bay Rufs, Aile Magnet 105 sb some soft plastics like Sunslicker padletails and Dolives.

My spinning rods and reels will do me for this season The Tenryu Swat 96 and Calida 3000 A.

A recent pre season trip to Trawffyndd power station saw me blank spinning for trout and Pike oeuff.

You can't beat saltwater bass-fishing :cheer:

Any of you lads planning anything this season?

Some nice outerwear purchased there Abbo :thumb: I've looked at the ikons DD sells but my old fishers motions are still going strong so I've not bitten the bullet yet. I plan to get over to the lleyn and Anglesey this summer - I've got to catch some bass on top water lures! Those tents look interesting - not seen the external frames before. My old vango is on its last legs tbh so I'm looking for a replacement, from what I'm reading online the Snugpack range are good. It's been a very quiet start on the rivers - too early yet really. One or two members have been out catching carp on the pits so things are on the move. Roll on the seatrouting :fishing:

I'll have a look at the Bangor Liphook

Cheers Shaun looking forward to yours too.

Hopefully more lads on here will try their luck with lures.

Once the season starts firing you might want to meet up to chuck a few lures.
