Finding a dog free zone (not)
Got up early this morning (0330hrs) to try and make the last hour and half of the flood at Moelfre and get some bottom fishing time and back into the tope before the feather fluffers arrived. Well that was the plan however some of the flock had of their night owl feathers on already and were busy swishing away.
First cast, "who let the dogs out." For an hour an endless stream of dogs, small to mid sized threw themselves at whatever bait was presented. Bites were thick and fast and many times I could barely get the rod in the rest before another tug from another hungry dog The sea bed was carpeted with the beasts. A change of bait and a closer drop brought a change with a couple of small dabs and 2 whiting. Alas finding this dog free zone again was not to be and normal service resumed far too soon.
Mack's were now showing in better numbers, so if you can't beat them , join them. An hour of drowning the feathers saw 20 mack's and a couple of good sized launce in the bucket . Ok well that's enough, time for a change to spinning / float fished gear. Nothing on the spinner and plugs however a small freelined rag turned up a wee Blenny.
That's another first for this year.
"I might look pug ugly to you, but my mother loves me!"
In summary - No gear losses , 5 species and some mack's for the barbee
What's not too like
