Mersey
Rugbydanny has add a few Rays out of the Mersey over the last week, so Ray and I decided have a session on the mersey this afternoon from 4pm to 8.15pm . It wasn't long for the first to come out, a whiting , then
followed by a double header of whiting . We thought it was going to be a busy session but it wasn't to be . about a hour before high water I decided to change rigs from flappers to running pennel rigs baited with lug and squid wraps and see if I could catch a Ray . just on high water I got a good pull down then a slack line . when I got it in it was a small ray at 3lb 2ounces .
I ended up with 5 whiting and a ray.

Re: Mersey
Do you think the rays being caught are ones from last year not leaving the river with the mild winter or ones returning earlier than normal ?

i personally think its down to the mild weather, the crabs have also still been around and as far as i'm aware, they are s'posed to move out to deeper water with the colder weather so i reckon they are last years fish and the water has not been cold enough yet.
