Mackeral Glut

Postby abbo » 16 Sep 2016, 12:51

No Mackeral all year, then, thousands of them appear around the North Wales coast.

Yesterday, as I flicked out a variety of lures the Mackeral were fighting to get at them.
The Bass though, were playing hard to get. Gorging themselves on 4 inch Joey's. They just didn't appear interested in my humble offerings of plastic.

After several hours and two different venues, I was about to give up, in search of a decent fish.

I decided to the play the game of "just one more cast". This lasted for about 50 minutes after high tide.
I put on a Zonk HT in cruising blue to imitate a joey - and whack, 20 yards out I managed to land this, after carefully manoeuvring it from some sharp edged rocks, into my net.

Cheers all,
Abbo.

Good to hear from you Abbo :thumb: The mackerel seem to have disappeared from the Fylde coast only to be replaced by dogfish! Nice bass mate. Not seen one of them here yet :banghead:
