Lytham Ribble
Pulled up at lytham jumped out the van waders on kit sorted and away you get across the road and move across the green.... it’s a great early summers evening ...I’ve never fished here before and I ve made a million excuses in my head every time I want to ,,thats to leave it till next time.. but I am working here today.. I am done by six tides moving in 1830 no more excuses.you move across the green and the church bells are ringing out behind you bell ringing night, mixed with the screaches of swifts as they belt round the spire chaseing flys high up in the evening warm air..https://youtu.be/NrdlIlHHFmE tight line fellas ....see what the tide brings next time out
. there’s a slight breeze in your face as you pass people doing there thing on the green ...dads playing soccer with there kids ,,people walking arm in arm ,,folk walking there well behaved dogs NOT-and folks just sat on benches chatting...you walk bye... the occasional Knod, evening. what ever.. the odd stare from the brigade who look at you with great amusement ..then your there ...goodbye civilised world hello nature ..you walk out over the marsh out to the river ...the sounds ,the smell ,the sight gathering your senses ..walking through the marsh grass you make your way to your mark as swallows fly passed low over the marshgrass ..orange tip butterfly bobbing around in flight and your there...2 rods out the bag one for distance one for free lining crab meat on a circle hook let the bait go with the flow of the tide..and the baits are in ..you wait, you wait ,you wait bang first knock 40 mins in first bait comes in but no fish... back out all a fresh....out to your front shell duck chattering and a heron screams as he flys low getting mobbed by two blackheaded gulls and an oyster catcher moves in to clear him off the nesting area ..the terns further off shore hunting and screaming that constant noise while hunting...the free line bait rod bobs twice and in comes the first flounder of the night back he goes.. some crab re baited off it goes again hopefully looking as natraul as can be with the movement of the tide flow I am happy with that free lining it might be away for me to fish a few smaller gully’s in the future for floundering the distance rod has done nothing tonight well it’s time to change bait crab and lug mix in comes the distance rod..with a flounder hitching a ride it’s probably got the bait re movement on this he way in or I missed the knock as I’ve got my eyes roaming the river ...well the tide has about turned and I bring the distance rod in bag it up and it’s away daylight is moving to dusk the suns going down ..then it’s drink time pop to mouth ...bang bob bob bob in comes flounder no 3 the free line rod.. good end to a warm early summer flounder fishing on the ribble ...you pack your kit and move off heading back to the green turning your back to the peace and quiet.coller to the breeze..head back to civilisation we’re the folks have virtually gone home now...some thing catches my attention so I will leave the RNLI lads to explain there raising money tonight
