Lure and Photos Tuesday Evening

Postby benhben » 23 Jul 2014, 09:32

Hey. I've not posted on here for ages. Well over a year maybe two. Mainly because I havent done any sea fishing. Anyway with the nice settled weather the water clarity has improved and made it a lot more pleasant to paddle out with my lure rod (which mainly gets used for pike). Thought I would have a few chucks with a topwater on the rocks at the start of the North Wall last night. Also took my camera in case there was a nice sunset.

didn't catch but it was a nice warm evening. I could live in this weather all year round!

One strange/unpleasant thing was that a guy in a dark colour car (dark blue/black) what looked like a newish Nissan Micra pulled up at the gate to the rocks. Pulled a plastic box out of his boot and threw around 40 fish carcasses over the railings onto the concrete slope. A it appears He's killed around 40 fish, but also threw them right below where 5 or 6 truck drivers were spending the night. The stench got one of them out of his cab. There are some disgusting people around here.

Unlucky on the blank mate :banghead:
Two totally contrasting photos there.
First one stunning, lovely sunset over the bay.
Second one as you say disgusting!!
Why?
Must be a reason to it,feeding the birds?
Intrigued to say the least.

I assumed he was a gillnetter chucking his unwanted catch. On closer inspection all the fish were filleted. Neverthe less even if he caught rod and line and took them to eat, does he really need 40?

And also dispose of them properly not throw them accross a public area. Probably the same type of person who leaves litter all over ever swim they fish.

On a side note, where would be the nearest place to have a chance of some rock species e.g. Wrasse, Pollock and Mackerel. Whitehaven? Anywhere closer?

Think you'll find that kind of behaviour is probably the norm in some parts of Eastern Europe! Seen it done here before & heard the language (not English)! :huan kerr: Problem is that we as fishermen / women all get tarred with the same brush when members of the public are having a stroll along the sea front & come across stinking fish remains! :banghead:
