High tide yesterday

Postby pros » 22 May 2020, 09:26

Hi guys.

Went back to my new local spot this time to fish up to high tide. The local tackle shop is now trading but he had no worm bait. I have spotted a potential pumping area, but that is for another day (dodgy shoulder at the moment).

I started off with small squid baits on size 2 hooks and got a dab first cast and then 2 more over the next hour. Local people I have quizzed assure me that there are thornies to be caught here so I concentrated on sardine and squid wraps on 3/0 hooks but to no avail. Just after high 2 flounders managed to impale them selves on the 3/0's and that was it.

Its all a learning curve and one thing I learn't was that on a tide much bigger than today you would be pushed under the cliff and cramped for casting room. It all looks a bit unstable to.

There is another drawback with this spot and that is the 150 steps to negotiate down and back. I'm thinking of selling the bike and just fish here twice a week.

Hopefully some pics. of the day.

Stay safe guys.
