Gynn Wall 13/5
Looking at the weather forecast decided to have a quick session on the Gynn last night with my brother.
Only small tide with high water just after 8:00, got down there at about 6:15. Slight swell and light northerly/north westerly breeze, with a pretty spectacular sunset.
Bait was week old black, fresh peeler and mackerel for tipping.
Fish from the off mostly on peeler crab.
Mostly flounders (all of the same stamp around 27cm. Just after 7:00 rod gave a good knock and something more solid had taken cascade rig at distance, nice codling (46cm, just under 2 1/2lb). Came up the wall with much grinding of gears from the Grauvell reel, by the sounds of it on its last legs
Rest of the night carried on with flatties with only a smaller doggie coming in just after high water.
Last fish of the night was a 25cm dab would had managed to take the 3/0 flowing trace baited with a full crab I had chucked out to see if any smoothounds or another codling was about
Finished the night 6 flounders (all on crab), 3 dabs (all on worm), Codling and Dogfish (both on crab).
Our kid ended up with about a dozen flatties and a couple of small whiting.
All in all not a bad way to spend the evening and back in time for a pint.
