Going Retro at the Gynn ...<º))))><

Postby shacky » 14 Jul 2019, 16:57

Early 7am start on the Gynn today. Bagger and PaulR were my two accomplices. I decided to fish some different rigs with hook sizes ranging from 1/0s to 6#s. Actually one rig was taking me back to the early 80s.
Both me and Paul took the walk down the beach for "First Cast". The tide followed me back and filled the near gulley..

We settled down to what we thought would be a drag of a day. After 45 minutes my distance rod started to head over the wall. After a brief scrap i had my reward..

Image

My inside rig started to produce the goods..

Image

Only small stuff, but my long time stored 3 boom paternoster was doing the business..

Image

Paul praying to the sea gods

Image

Bagger trying to land his first..

Image

Waiting for a bite..

Image

Didn't wait long and caught a matching pair..

Image

A small Tope had me fooled on the big hooks..

Image

More Sole..

Image

Just to make a quad, hiding in the weed..

Image

High water arrived and the fish disappeared..

Image

Pensioner Pete stopped off for an introduction and chat :blah:
Nice to meet you :thumb: Hopefully we will wet a line some time :fishing:

The ebb was a different proposition and the fish became difficult to catch. Though the 80s rig shone through..

The sea seemed to leave us quickly and the sandbanks started to uncover..

A double head of Weaver came in at the death.
Crab, Blackworm and Ragworm were on the fishes palate. Mackerel was scoffed at.
The Paternoster Ruled!
