Getting closer

Postby pros » 15 Sep 2016, 07:58

Fished a new mark (for me) last evening, fished 3 hours through the middle of the flood. I had got there early so that I could reccy the beach. I had blow lug and frozen sandeel and also some blow lug that I had salted, this is an ongoing expeiment which I hope will provide me with a backup bait supply when things get tough in the winter.

Weed was light and the crab activity not too bad but the result was the, for now, familiar blank.

Below is a pic of the venue when I arrived.

Now for the exciting bit, a local guy 30 yds. to my left caught this 3.5 lb beauty, he even offered it to me "for my tea" as he had 2 more in the freezer.

He had caught the fish on blow lug and assured me that this was not just an isolated catch.

So I had the right bait and was almost in the right place at the right time. Needless to say I will be back soon.

Sorry about the picture quality, maybe the Welsh are better at fishing than taking pictures.
