Fishing Magic Island!

Used My NEW 13' & 14" HCS 3pc Surf Rods by Okuma! No Fish But Got Bait!

I intended to bait cast my newly designed HCS 13' & 14' Surf Rods by Okuma from a high position to see the casting distance. I used squid secured by bait thread so the bait doesn't fly off. I was hoping for a strike. Went to Magic Island off Waikiki. Weeks earlier baitfish were plentiful & the predators were in. I knew the bait balls moved towards Diamond Head and videos on the news showed sharks feeding. I didn't need a lot of anglers around so i chose to hit this area.

I did meet Uncle Dennis who gave me a dozen live O'ama "young Goatfish". I used a few & froze the rest. I did get a decent strike on the blue 13' rod. The live oama came back decapitated with deep body slashes. Almost had a fish. Also i'm fine tuning my GoPro Hero 8 Black.

I like this area. Been diving there since i was 10. Been seriously fishing there since i was 18. When i moved to Waikiki when i hit 18 i fished here all the time. Normally i'd stay till noon but had an appointment in town. When the bite is good late evening is fantastic!
