Duke St dock 18.4.2019l

Postby Manchester newbie » 18 May 2019, 23:22

Went intending to fish the 1o'clock gun,got there water about 30/40 yards out,so not fancying dragging any fish across mud and sand,so went to Duke St dock if anything it would be a whiting session, how wrong can you be.Set up 7 ft rods light lines and small hooks bits of squid, mackeral and prawn, sat there for about 1 and half hours swoping and changing baits nothing where has the whiting gone??.Set up another rod with a light float to fish a ledge about 12ft deep,12 's hook bit of prawn, float sailed away :banghead: missed it, recast float went again, fish on, up came the most ugliest fish I've ever seen (pictures below) next cast goby on prawn and then a sea scorpion again on prawn, mixed bag.At least 2 for the species hunt How do you tell gobies apart,I had 1 with a yellow tipped dorsal fin,and some others with orange tipped dorsal fin,are these one and the same.Finished up with 8 gobies,1 sea scorpion,3 whiting and 1 ugly thing (another guy fishing said it was a monk fish)need definite identification for the species hunt

:thumb: Well done on a cracking session. I’ve never heard of a monk fish being caught from the shore in this region before. That’s an exceptional catch. :thumb:
