been going down for over 10 years now and manage to fish most mornings and evenings - a total of one bass in all that time , about 3lb but fun on a carp rod

Good fun.
He fishes the inner harbour like myself, I know he's caught a few from there.
You ought to try the local rock marks with your carp rod with lures, that will produce Bass aswell.

Checked the harbour today Damo, not sure where you fish. Do go up the left hand side past the harbourmasters office?

Yeah, past the harbourmasters office, past the big rock towards the end.
Check it out on low tide, you'll see the rock and kelp better.
It holds some good fish there.
