Cymyran Bay Sat Night

Postby Kev » 13 Oct 2019, 10:06

The wind had dropped enough for a final small eyed ray hunt,so myself and Mick headed off to fish @3 hours up and 2 down....Brian,Paul and Tom were already fishing when we arrived but the action was very slow with just a small bass for Brian. The sea was still too lively after a few days of strong westerlies and after 30 mins the dreaded weed started, with huge clumps of kelp/stalks getting dragged in.I was about to stop fishing for a bit in the hope that it would clear when Mick dragged in a clump, but with his first ever small eyed ray too,so that boosted morale.
Image Only a baby but we thought some bigger ones would show later in the tide;sadly that was the only one to show.
Mick continued to catch with a dog,a few whiting and a 36cm bass, while i could`nt buy a bite  Paul then landed a pan sized bass...Image he had been out since 7am with Brian and previously been weeded out at Aberffraw and Rhosneigr.....he also had a nice little turbot, which makes a change from the norm...

Talking of out of the normal,i was in between Paul and Mick and was having one of those nights....Paul,Brian and Tom got off at high water, with a few small coalies to add to their hauls, and then the weed completely cleared which gave me the opportunity to get off the mark with a pin whiting  ...an hour after high i sent out a double sandeel bait and soon had my rod bouncing..the way it was fighting i was expecting a decent bass but was pleasantly surprised to see a nice sea trout coming through the surf...
Image a P.B for me at 2-15-0 coz i`ve never had one before  i added a small coalie before we got off 2 hours down....between us we had 7 species including 2 P.B`s so i suppose we can`t complain, though i just with i could fish there in ideal conditions, which is something i have`nt had for the last couple of years. Always good to meet up with other lads from the site, and i`m sure we`ll meet up again soon
