Boat out of mothballs

Postby billy bennett » 17 Jul 2014, 13:36

This week I have been giving the (boat) WendyB some TLC, Done all the wiring and added fused switches to all the electronics, Bought an aux motor for it and cleaned it out, Its now ready to plough the waves in search of Mr Bassy, For my first trip this year I really fancy the Peel Island area so will be heading to Walney and chugging out, from there I will have access to the entire Bay area so happy days ahead, hope to get a few pics of Monster Bass up for you, Wish me luck

You don't have to go across the bay to find bass, theres plenty on the Fleetwood side if you know where to go.

Not had the boat in the water for knocking on 12 months, Used to launch at 5 bar with the club tractors, but ditched the club (for reasons I won't go into here) so now need to launch myself, I like launching at Walney as the slipway is like a duel carriageway going into the water, and fancy giving the Peel island area a bash, from there I can get anywhere in the bay in 10 mins. I do know about No.2 buoy and the banks beyond them, and Kings scar etc. as I have fished the Fleetwood side several times, but apart from Knot end not sure about launch sites around the bay, I do have a 4x4 and don't mind crossing sand but draw the line at ploughing through mud and getting stuck.
I am going Sunday morning weather permitting, I have in the past launched at Lytham and drove round but its a long way if your engine packs in and a nightmare to negotiate the channel at low water.
If you know any good launch sites in the Bay where you can retrieve at any time then let me know where and I will check them out.
