Big sand 11/8/16

Hoping for a few species whilst having a few days up in the highlands with the family but cut that short due to the weather , had an hour on the pier but tide was nearing low so macky had moved out into deeper water , and grabbed a hour or so on the beach at low with some sandeel , nothing caught .

Right, so where is the pier?? I can't bring one to mind.
Have you noticed that very few people fish the beaches up there?

Gairloch pier down in Charlestown . Golf course beach and the headland to the left and no one fishes them or the beach at Strath .

Right! I know the one you mean, I was trying to think of a pier in the Big Sand area.

The last time I fished in the Highlands/Islands was from Baleshare beach off North Uist in the Hebrides, I caught 3 flounders, but didn't recognise them at first because they were grey rather than muddy brown. They take their colouring from the sand, apparently.

Forgot to say earlier - well done on giving it a go, it gets lonely on those beaches - dunnit?
