Anchorsholme lane Monday night
Picked up a coffee from the petrol station and headed up to the bullnose to meet my pal Tubs for our usual friendly comp.
Plan was to fish 2.5 up and 1 down which took us till about 1.20am there was a slight offshore breeze but nothing much and the sea was quite still. Perfect weather for blasting it out at distance.
We were into whiting from the off. From about 2 oz up to 1.5lb. Eventually I got a nice strong bite and reeled in a nice codling probably touching 3lb. Nice and chunky.
That was e biggest fish if the night. We kept pulling in the whiting and on my last reel in I had a small codling to win me the match.
I did get another very nice bite but missed it.
All fish were returned.
Bait was black to start on a 2 hook clipped down pennel. Later I started to put a whole squid (the small ones) on the larger bottom hook to stop the small whiting being such a pain. It seemed to work.
Might try again Wednesday night.
