I,ve owned the previous incarnation the green Mag Elite for many years and use it regularly. As a fishing reel it is hard too fault. I run mine with one small brake block and let the sliding mag brake do the rest. For distance casting in decent conditions you can turn the Mag down to 1 or even half without problems. Even in head winds and big baits I have never found the need to use more than 4. Some people suggest removing some of the magnets to increase its speed, but for fishing purposes, when you want trouble free bait delivery I can,t see the advantage.

I have one, pimped out with ceramic bearings, the alloy back plate has been eaten by salt, smear a light coat of reel grease around the plate and over the edge once it's put together ;-) you will find the faster retrieve and new handle a big improvement ;-)
