a tale of two tides

Postby rugbydanny99 » 22 May 2020, 07:30

arranged to meet robf billbob and ian down on the gynn for a change of scenery from the mersey.

arrived on the wall around 7am and there was already anglers setting up

the wind was up and the water was quite choppy but not long after the start ian’s rod gave a sharp double tap resulting in a nice sized dover sole another for his hunt.

fishing was very quiet with nothing else happening for the next hour, plenty of anglers up and down the wall but everyone’s rod was static.

rob came over for a socially distant chat and as soon as he did my rod nearly left the rest even with the drag set!

reeled in with a cracking fight however disaster struck as i was too far from the steps and as i was in auto pilot from fishing the mersey i didn’t realise the difficulty of getting a bloody decent fish up that slope and around that bloody ledge half way up the wall.

with the assistance of ian he leaned over to try and pull it up the wall but knocked it on the ledge and off she went a cracking hound lost i think the entire wall heard my unhappiness, oops :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

that was it for me for the rest of the session

after such high hopes and fishing the ebb to the death ian and myself decided to go all the way home for a bite to eat and then come back for the evening tide

so glad we did, ian brought his lad jay with him as he had missed the AM tide

bites from the off, some cracking bites, getting absolutely hammered with doggies both rods all three of us bang bang bang bang i stopped counting after 12 i think ian did too

in between the bait robbing doglets both ian myself and i think jay managed a couple of tope pups, a first for me, such a cute little fish wanted to put them in my tank at home ha ha

ian had a great bite causing him to take a trip down to the steps after learning from my mistake earlier on and was soon landing his first hound well done mate!

doggies continued to steal our baits and i was soon into a hound myself.

young jay finished the night with a dover sole so he added two to his hunt as well!

talk about two completely opposing tides, but i guess that’s why it’s called fishing,

was great to speak to paul R again as i had not seen him since the christmas meet and i believe he had a cracking night too

absolutely shattered now though as the youngest son just woke me up for his breakfast i suppose he doesn’t care if i’ve only had 2 and half hours sleep!

thanks for reading
