Over forty man made lakes occur on Gran Canaria, constructed by damming deep ravines to provide water for irrigation purposes. And to prevent them weeding up, Carp have been introduced, which, in the warm Canarian climate, have grown to massive proportions. Dave Beecham who operates the guiding service Gran Canaria Carp has personally caught them to 55 pounds. Phill Williams and Paul Kelly spend a day fish Presa De Chira with him.
